メジロ科（メジロか、学名 Zosteropidae）は、鳥類スズメ目の科である。チメドリ科 Timaliidae メジロ亜科 Zosteropinae ともされる[2]。

メジロ（目白、英語: White-eyes）と総称される[3]。ただし狭義には、基底的な側系統の(カンムリチメドリ属) Yuhina (Yuhinas) と区別することもある[4]。また最も狭義には、メジロ科の1種をメジロと呼ぶ。
特徴
アジア南部 - 東部、サハラ以南のアフリカ、オーストラリア、太平洋・インド洋諸島の、熱帯・温帯に生息する。
蜜、もしくは虫を食する。繁殖期以外は群れ（フロック）を形成する。
多くの種が、目の周りに白い輪を持っており、「メジロ」の語源となっている。
系統と分類
次の系統樹は Moyle et al. (2009)[5]より。ただし(ハシブトメジロ属) Heleia の位置は Gelang et al. (2009)[2]より。(カンムリチメドリ属) Yuhina の数種、Apalopteron・(セラムメジロ) Tephrozosterops・(マダンガメジロ) Madanga・(オニメジロ) Megazosterops は図示されていない。Clade A・B は Moyle et al. による仮の系統名、Clade I は Johansson et al. (2008)[6]が仮に命名したウグイス上科の下位系統である。

メジロ科は従来はやや狭い範囲に取られていたが、チメドリ科からカンムリチメドリ属 Yuhina が移され、また、モリチメドリ属 Stachyris の一部が Dasycrotapha・Sterrhoptilus・Zosterornis の3属に分離されて移された[5][4][7]。この修正によりメジロ科とチメドリ科は姉妹群となる。チメドリ科の範囲には諸説あり、メジロ科をメジロ亜科 Zosteropinae としてチメドリ科に含める説もある[2]。
カンムリチメドリ属はメジロ科の中で基底的な側系統である。残りのメジロ科は Clade A と Clade B に分かれる。Clade A は、モリチメドリ属から分離された3属を含む数属と、メジロ属のウォーレスメジロ Zosterops wallacei からなる。カンムリメジロ属など数属は Clade A の中で1つの単系統を作っているが、その中でカンムリメジロ属は多系統である。Clade B は主に、メジロ科の種数の過半を占める大きな属であるメジロ属（ウォーレスメジロ以外）で占められ、その中に、島嶼や高山で地理的に孤立しているいくつかの小さな属が分散して内包されている[5]。
ただし Clade A の単系統性は弱い。さらに Gelang et al. では Zosterornis（ただし Moyle et al. がサンプリングしたのとは別の種）は Clade A + Clade B 系統の外に位置しており、Clade A と Clade B の単系統な姉妹関係を否定している。
