1900年パリオリンピックのボート競技（1900ねんパリオリンピックのボートきょうぎ）では4つの種目が行われ、オリンピックのプログラムへの導入が示された[1]。最初の1896年の大会では強風のためボート競技は中止された。8月25日と26日にクールブヴォア橋とアニエール橋の間のセーヌ川で開催された[2]。コースの長さは1750mであった[3]。

舵取りの謎

舵つきペア競技では、出場した7艇のうち6艇の舵取りの名前が明らかになっていない。そのほとんどが体重25kg前後のフランスの少年であり、フランスのボートが有利になるようにした[9]。優勝したオランダの選手は、ヒートに負けた後に自分たちの舵取りが重すぎると判断し、フランス人の少年を決勝戦の舵取りとして採用した。この少年は名前が不明であるが、史上最年少のオリンピック金メダリストである可能性が高いと考えられている（以前は7歳から10歳と推定されていた）[10][11]。12歳から14歳である可能性が高いと推定する人もいる[9]。ある研究者はこの不明のかじ取りは、後に科学者となりジョージアにスポーツを普及させた(ギオルギ・ニコラゼ)（Giorgi Nikoladze、1888年 - 1931年）である可能性があると主張している[12][13]。
